Domani (Tomorrow in Italian)

WooHoo a whole 8 people are following my blog, so I'm super excited to start writing less than average blog posts for you all to follow:) I leave for Italy tomorrow. Holy Moly. But the past couple have days have been absolutely fabulous if I must say so. My birthday (which is July 10 ;)) is going to occur while I am away in Rome, so my mother scheduled a birthday trip for her, my grandmother, and I at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando. It was so great. You could eat an unlimited amount of blueberry yogurt covered pretzels and you could use 7 towels if you wanted and not feel guilty. It was wonderful. They even had shaving cream that smelled like grapefruit. And before you go assuming we spent a ridiculous amount of money while pretending to be so fabulous for a day, you must know that they were running a special at the spa, and since it was a weekday we got them at a discounted rate :)
I leave tomorrow at 1:55 pm, and I arrive in Rome the next morning at around 9:30. My teacher sent out a special e-mail regarding a soccer game.... The UEFA EURO 2012 Final is on Sunday at 8:45 pm and guess who is playing... Italy. So our teacher has warned or rather enlightened us that there will be an immense amount of celebration throughout the country and that it will be a lovely and exciting first night!

Since wine is cheaper than water in Italy, I wanted to learn to say "More Wine Please" in Italian:

più vino per favore

6 days.

So this is awkward. I already can be a tad awkward during normal, in person situations, so the fact that I am going to have conversations with my computer for you all to read is a little weird to me and I haven't fully gotten used to the concept yet. I leave for Rome in 6 days. I am so nervous/excited and I'm not super sure what to make of it. Apparently the weather in Rome during the month of July is unbearably hot and temperatures can be anywhere from 90-105 degrees...which is disgusting. So while I was starting to pack I obviously packed pretty much all dresses and skirts, and only a few pairs of shorts (locals don't wear them, weird).
Aside from the recommended packing list that we received, and common sense items, I asked my best friends that just recently left the country what I should bring with me on my 6 weeks away in Rome. These are what they decided were "ESSENTIAL":

1. Drammamine

2. Bug Spray: So. A fun fact about my apartment in Rome is that not only are the temperatures ridiculously hot, we have no air conditioning. Sleeping with our windows open sounds like the best option, but my friends have assured me that you get eaten alive by bugs, so thats something I'm definitely looking forward too :)

3. Tide to Go Pen

4. Downy De-Wrinkle Spray: Another fun fact about Rome, people don't use dryers. When I was clothes in the United States, I leave my clothes in the dryer pretty much until I wear them, which leaves them ridiculously wrinkled, but whatever. If it is something super important, I usually turn on the dryer to "de-wrinkle" said T-shirt and then go. Apparently this spray is greatttt.

5. Face Wipes

6. Safety Pins: My lovely friend Berkeley has recently returned from backpacking through Europe, and she told me to safety pin my wallet and camera into my purse to keep it from getting stolen :) also another exciting thing about Rome...Pick Pockets.

7. Advil, Airborne, and Tylenol: Drinking Age = 18. Enough Said.

8. Towel

9. Sunscreen

10. EUROS $$$$$
